In 2016, Herning City Hotel completed a thorough modernisation. All 52 rooms are newly renovated with comfortable furniture, cosy beds, a light interior, a private bathroom and toilet, a flat-screen TV, radio and free internet. The corridors are decorated in light colours with new carpets and modern art on the walls. Only the beautiful architect-designed chairs have been kept.
At reception you will find a PC with internet access, today's newspapers, magazines and information about Herning and what the area has to offer. After a long day you can unwind in the cosy bar with a drink, a chat or the TV.

Herning has a large swimming centre with fun in the water for all ages: a heated children's pool with mushroom fountains and small slides, large swimming pools for confident swimmers, and warm pools to relax in.

A breakfast buffet is served every day in the hotel's bright breakfast restaurant. There is freshly baked bread, a good selection of cheese and cold cuts, cornflakes and muesli, fruit and, of course, coffee, tea and juice, so you can start the day at your own pace.
The restaurant is also where lunches and dinners for private parties are served, and the breakfast spread caters both for those who need to get going quickly and for those who want to sit and enjoy their coffee in peace and quiet.

Outdoor areas
Summer awaits outside
In summer, the hotel's outdoor areas come into their own. The roof terrace on the 3rd floor looks out over the town's rooftops, and in the courtyard behind the hotel the tables are ready in the sun. Both have room for morning coffee, lunch and a cold drink at sunset.
Naturally, we also serve outdoors, so you can enjoy everything from breakfast to drinks from the bar in the open air.

The Herning area

The textile industry was once the great driving force, then trade fairs and conferences arrived, and in recent years major events and a varied cultural and leisure scene have set the agenda. With MCH at its heart, around a million people come every year for trade fairs, conferences, concerts, shows and theatre.
Herning has two internationally acclaimed art museums, HEART Herning Museum of Contemporary Art and Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelts Museum, as well as the Textile Museum (Tekstilmuseet) and Herningsholm Museum. In Birk you will find the giant sculpture Elia, the Sculpture Park and the Geometric Gardens.
If you like sport, there are football, ice hockey and handball matches all year round, and the area is a great base for hiking, cycling holidays, canoeing and fishing on the rivers Karup Å, Skjern Å and Storåen.
